Ideal Med was formed in 2010 by Gerry McDermott to offer an alternative choice for Surgeons looking for best quality in their products while incorporating additional value. Gerry was joined soon after by Colum Watters. Gerry and Colum have over 50 years combined experience in the orthopaedic sector in both senior executive positions and on-the-ground sales roles. This experience provided the know-how to bring to market products that could compete with market leading brands and also offer additional innovation and value.

GET IN TOUCHStewart Fraser is our Managing Director overseeing the business both UK based and International. Taking on the responsibility for driving growth and developing commercial partnerships, Stewart will maintain the excellent growth IdealMed has seen since its inception in 2010. With previous experience in complex and customised arthroplasty he joined us in 2017.
Sam Gifford is our Quality and Project Manager, taking responsibility for the Ideal Med global quality and regulatory assurance interests, Sam Joined the team in 2019 as Assistant Quality Manager, being promoted to the senior post in 2020 after leading our most recent project to expand our operation to the Unites States, ultimately broadening our sphere of interest within the external fixation market.
Jenni O’Brien is our Office and Finance Manager. Jenni joined Ideal Med in 2014 and having started her career as Finance assistant, has worked in a number of finance roles gaining the appropriate qualifications along the way. Jenni manages the office-based team at Ideal Med covering, customer services, logistics and finance.
Shona McDermott is our Operations Manager, with a foundation in logistics since 2014. Beginning her journey at IdealMed as an Operations Coordinator in 2018, she honed her skills and advanced to the position of Operations Manager. In her current capacity, Shona oversees both domestic and international shipments, catering to the diverse needs of our valued customers and partners.
